In the NL West race
it’s the Padres we chase
and by the month’s end they’ll be caught.
This prediction I make with steel hope
‘Cuz we’re in for a slippery slope
If the Giants prevail
and the Padres should fail
With the Braves we will next have to cope.
I’m not fond of eating my word
and to scarf down one’s hat seems absurd
